A
Success Story Of "Mark Zuckerberg"
Mark Zuckerberg the founder of "Facebook".
His full name is Mark Elliot Zuckerberg and he was born on May 14, 1984, in
White Plains, New York into a comfortable, well-educated
family. Zuckerberg’s interest in programming developed when his parents
gifted him the book C++ for Dummies .He built a product called ZuckNet,
just for his family. His father was able to send an instant message to anyone
in the house and visa verse. It was, essentially, an early version of
AOL's Instant Messenger. He already got job offers when he was still in
high school. Both AOL and Microsoft tried to recruit him after he created
Synapse, a program that used artificial intelligence to learn users'
music-listening habits.
He was a Harvard undergraduate when
he started the Facebook social networking website. (A Facebook,
lower-case, is a collection of student photographs designed
to introduce students to each other.)
On February 4 2004, Zuckerberg launched The facebook.com, a social network that allowed users to create basic profiles including personal information and photos. Initially, Facebook was supposed to be a networking site for university grads, but was thrown open for everybody in 2006.
Facebook is blue because Zuckerberg
is red-green color blind. "Blue is the richest color for me. I can see all
of blue," he told ABC News
Meanwhile, a Craigslist-like Facebook
Marketplace has been added to the site, along with a platform for offering
applications. Microsoft purchased a 1.6% stake in the company for $240 million
in October of 2007, and the following month the Facebook Beacon service
premiered -- a controversial initiative that blends marketing and social
networking, which has come under considerable criticism for the way that it can
broadcast information about a user's activity outside of the Facebook site,
without adequately warning them.
Zuckerberg's programmed his own trick
into Facebook.
- · If you type @[4:0] in the Facebook comment box, Mark Zuckerberg's name will appear
- · In Facebook's early days, he used to hand out business cards that reads: "I'm CEO, B****"
Zuckerberg moved to Palo Alto to
operate Facebook full time, taking a leave of absence from Harvard; the
Facebook offices now occupy four downtown buildings.
With
more than 900 million active users, Facebook is the busiest site on
the Internet and has built an extensive infrastructure to
support this rapid growth.

As Facebook grows, its data center
requirements are growing along with it. The new data center Oregon was
announced as being 147,000 square feet. But as construction got rolling,
the company announced plans to add
a second phase to the project, which will add another 160,000 square
feet. That brings the total size of the Prineville facility to 307,000 square
feet of space – larger than two Wal-Mart stores. The North Carolina facility is
about the same size.
"a young man
who successfully connects everyone in the
world .. really great discoveries in this era.."
"My goal is to build a culture
of loving the people we serve," he said.
